Why wear a welding cap or hat?

Welding hats or caps protect your head, neck, and ears from sparks, hot metal and slag. Welding caps are worn under the welding hood. Welding caps also protect your hair. When you turn the bill or brim sideways and pull it over your ear, it can protect you from getting slag in your ears.

What are other names for welding hats?

Welding hats and similar hats are also called welding caps, beanies, and probably an assortment of other names. Welders also wear do-rags.

What are welding caps made of?

Good welding caps are made of all cotton fabric. Be sure not to buy a cap made of polyester or polyester blend as it can melt and stick to your skin.

How do I care for my welding cap?

Welding hats last longer if washed in cold water and hung to dry. If your hat is a little too large, you can shrink it by washing in hot water and drying in the dryer. Do not use bleach as it will weaken the fibers of your welding hat and fade or ruin the colors.

How do I measure for a welding cap?

Use a soft tape measure or piece of string. Wrap it around your head where you want the welding hat to rest. Take note of your measurement. Use the size chart to determine your size. Note that all brands of welding caps are not created equal. We use die cut pieces for the same fit every time.
